In 2009 you helped me get out of a short sale free and clear, (my first house I bought as a young new nurse) I told you then we were moving out of Bend so my newly wed husband could go to grad school. I had told you when he was finished and we could afford to move back to Bend I’d contact you to help us find a home to buy (this time in style) Well, we are in La Jolla, CA and he just finished he is a scientist with a PHD!! He has a job that will allow us to live in Bend!

Not such an easy one, but you did it! I remember in the beginning that you had told me that there was not much to be had in the price category that Paula and her sister Diane were looking for in Bend. Obviously, Paula’s daughter being situated in the ‘right’ spot was the impetus for such a search in your lovely area. With all that pressure and the various mini upsets along the way towards closing this transaction, you performed beautifully, Karen! When we came to Oregon and decided to look at a few houses in Bend three years ago, the woman at the chamber of commerce gave us the name of ‘the best realtor in town’: Karen Malanga. Karen took her weekend to show us three houses that fit our suggestions, even though we were just passing through.
When we were sure last year that Bend was the right community for us, we reconnected with Karen and she not only walked us through several homes over the next few months, she answered all of our questions regarding not just real estate issues, but also questions about city history and planning, growth and opportunities, and ways that we could both assimilate into and contribute to the city of Bend. In the end, she found us a beautiful home at a competitive price in a neighborhood that fits us perfectly. But that wasn’t really the end. When we had to go back to our home state to sell our former residence, she helped us coordinate work on our new home and lawn in our absence until we could finally make the move a few months later.

Ok I admit it: I randomly picked agents to contact from Zillow’s highlighted “Contact Agent” section of each property listing. I figured that all agents were pretty much the same . . . boy was I wrong. From the handful of agents that I picked in different locations, only one stood out as truly superior: Kristin Marshall. The agents I interacted with ranged from the boorish and arrogant to the sophisticated, prompt, respectful, and knowledgeable. I’m sure you can already guess where Kristin landed on this spectrum. Her local knowledge was impeccable; her candor and patience were refreshing; and her focus and ability to navigate the ever changing “buyer’s wishes and needs” was amazing and impressive. If Kristin represents the “average” agent in Bend, then Bend must have something truly special going on, but I doubt this is the case. Kristin is simply above the average-way above. She’s at the pinnacle of Realtor excellence, and is a true class act.
